Daren Tsui, CEO and Co-founder
Daren Tsui is the CEO and co-founder of mSpot, Inc. Tsui founded the company in 2004 with the goal of transforming mobile phones into a medium for rich mobile content that the masses will embrace. Tsui led mSpot’s charge to be the first mobile music service in North America to stream a “full format” radio service including news, sports, finance, talk and music channels as well as the first to stream full-length feature films to mobile phones. Today with more than 2 million paying subscribers, mSpot has launched services ranging from radio, music and movies to sports. A veteran of four start-ups, Daren was most recently president and co-founder of SkyGo, a global mobile marketing technology company providing integrated brand and direct marketing services sold to Enpocket in 2003.
Ed Ho, CTO and Co-founder
Ed Ho is the co-founder and chief technology officer for mSpot Inc. As CTO, Ho is responsible for the direction of the company’s strategic vision and has played an integral role in the company’s evolution since its launch in 2004. A veteran of the mobile industry, Ho was previously VP of engineering for Enpocket as well as CTO, co-founder and a member of the Board of Directors at SkyGo, an early pioneer in mobile Internet marketing. Ho holds an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Aline Yu, VP of Marketing
Aline Yu is the vice president of marketing for mSpot, Inc., responsible for mSpot marketing, product management, and communications. A veteran of product management and marketing, Yu has worked with companies such as Adobe Systems, Broderbund Software, Procter & Gamble and McKinsey & Company. In addition, she brings critical mobile expertise from her prior experience at Kodak Mobile and startup SkyGo Inc. Yu holds a BS from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Brent Sharpless, VP of Business Development
Brent Sharpless is the vice president of business development for mSpot, Inc. Responsible for developing, structuring and negotiating content and carrier licensing partnerships, Sharpless is deeply involved in strategic planning and implementation at the company. He has been an executive with two other successful startups, including, GOOItech and Orbit Commerce, which sold to Digital River in 2001. Most recently, Sharpless oversaw the wireless data product marketing division of Sprint Nextel Corporation. Sharpless holds a BS in Business Administration and Information Systems from The University of Kansas.
